Some other languages in the Horn of Africa, such as Oromo, used to be written using Geʽez, but have migrated to Latin-based orthographies. In Eritrea it is used traditionally used for Blin, a Cushitic language. It is also used for Gurage, Me'en, and most other languages of Ethiopia. The Ethiopic, or Geʽez, script is widely used for writing the Ethiopian and Eritrean Semitic languages such as Tigré, Amharic and Tigrinya.
